PRODUCT INFORMATION: The primary wood used in construction of these toys is poplar. Poplar is a very durable wood, that doesn't splinter easily. Other woods such as cherry, oak, walnut, and mahogany are use in combination with the poplar to add contrast and variety. All the corners of the toys are rounded and the edges are sanded smooth. The wheel assemblies are a through axle type. The toys are coated with a non-toxic, child-safe toy oil. This oil is especially formulated for use on wood toys and is approved by the F.D.A. for use on items which may have contact with food. The bookends are constructed of hardwoods and are doweled together. The backs and bases are stained with a polyurethane finish, and the vehicles are of natural wood with a toy oil finish. The bases have rubber pads to prevent sliding and protect the surface they are used on. The other household items are constructed of hardwoods such as oak or sassafras. They are stained and have a polyurethane finish.
